OUR EXPERIENCE

Carrie Johnson founded Paia in 2002 and is a specialist in sustainability strategy, reporting and environmental issues.

With over 18 years experience she focuses on guiding companies through the strategy development and reporting process. This includes helping companies develop their reporting process, select indicators, compile reports and review report drafts. Carrie has also verified a number of Sustainability Reports.

Carrie is the official trainer for CSR Reporting on behalf of ACCA, SEI and Singapore Compact. She have also been providing both training and guidance on Sustainability Reporting in Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore since 2001.

Carrie has extensive “hands on” experience in sustainability strategy and reporting, having worked with a number of FTSE 250 companies in the UK since the mid 1990’s, assisting with the production of their sustainability reports. Previous reporting clients include Singtel, City Developments Ltd, Keppel Land, Power Seraya, Senoko Power, ISK, Singapore Polytechnic, Railtrack, TXU Europe, British Telecom, AEA Technology and Smith & Nephew. Several of these reports have gone on to be shortlisted for reporting awards.

She is also a Senior Lecturer at NUS teaching on NUS’s Masters in Environmental Management (MEM Programme).

Richard (Dick) Dalley has more than 25 years experience of managing environmental and social issues in a business context.

He began his career in industry with International Paint (now part of Akzo Nobel), where he was responsible for the environmental and regulatory aspects of the company’s worldwide marine operations.

 

Subsequently he has helped corporate clients in a range of sectors develop and implement their environmental and social strategies (Bacardi, Trinity Mirror, Kingfisher Group).

 

Richard has a wide experience of developing environmental management systems in the utilities (Thames Water, Northumbrian Water, Keadby Power Generation), transport (Singapore Airlines, Kuehne & Nagel), construction (Balfour Beatty), and manufacturing (Groupe Schneider) sectors.

 

He provides independent input into the content of corporate responsibility reports (Telefonica O2, Yell, Trinity Mirror) and has lead the independent assurance of many CR reports (Amerada Hess, Stora Enso, Alfred McAlpine, Thames Water).

 

Dick was born in 1954 and has a first degree and doctorate in marine biology from the University of Liverpool.

 

He is an IEMA Environmental Auditor and Lead EMS Auditor.

 

Dick works with Paia Consulting in association with Two Tomorrows (Europe) Ltd.

 

Emma has worked in sustainability for more than 15 years, supporting a wide range of organisations in reducing their environmental impact. She is an experienced researcher and report writer with substantial expertise in stakeholder engagement and training.

Emma has worked with a wide range of organisations and their stakeholders to produce environmental strategies and action plans including: Eton College, the Scouts Association, Wakefield Together, Cambridgeshire Climate Change Partnership and the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.

 

Emma has also worked on behalf of the UK Government and its regional agencies to research opportunities for cutting carbon emissions. This has included running stakeholder focus groups (on behalf of the London Development Agency) to input into the city’s energy efficiency programme, and conducting an online stakeholder consultation exercise to help develop the government’s microgeneration strategy (on behalf of the Department for Energy and Climate Change).

 

Emma is on the judging panel for the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy and, on behalf of the Awards, runs an engagement programme with previous winners to develop networking and information sharing events. She has also been appointed as a Local Improvement Advisor under the theme of environmental best practice on behalf of the UK’s Local Government Group. Under this programme she works with regional partnerships around England to support them in the development of plans and strategies.

 

Emma is an experienced trainer and works on behalf of the Housing Quality Network to provide sustainability training to housing providers across the UK. She has also helped to develop and deliver a training programme for planners on opportunities for minimizing carbon emissions in new developments.

Dan Chi supports Paia with her experience in financial audit and sustainability issues.

Dan Chi developed her interest in international and sustainability issues after she was trained at the United Nations University by renowned practitioners and academics.  She was the youngest candidate selected globally.

Also trained in accounting, she assisted in developing and reviewing internal control systems and financial audits under both the local FRS and US GAAP requirements as an auditor at KPMG.  She was also engaged as a market research consultant to conduct primary and secondary research based on specialised client needs.

Clients ranged from governemental bodies, MNCs to SMEs, and industries included manufacturing, construction, energy, electroplating, education, trade, fashion and environmental, utilities and transport.

Her voluntary experience includes engaging stakeholders and helping develop an entry strategy for Nexus - Carbon for Development, an NGO committed to reduce climate change and poverty through carbon finance solutions.  She also actively supports environmental NGOs such as Biosphere Foundation.
